We have a wide variety of coaches available at the club, from very experienced coaches to new up and coming assistant coaches.

CLIVE MARSH

Pole Vault

Clive Marsh has been a N&P coach for well over twenty years and specialises in high jump and pole vault, where he has produced a number of English Schools winners.

He co-manages some of the track and field teams and also organises the Thursday sessions for the younger members.

Larry Garnham is an experienced coach of 26 year’s service. Formally coaching in South East London where he coached a number of English Schools champions and International athletes across a range of events from 400m to long jump, hurdles to Decathlon. He has been with N&P for 12 years and looks after a number of senior athletes.

DAVE VARNEY

Middle Distance

Dave has been one of the most influential officers of the club over the past two decades.

He coaches a number of middle distance and long distance groups and also looks after the cross country for the club. His groups are mixed and have a wide range of abilities.

JEFF HECTOR

Sprints

Jeff Hector another ex-athlete who then became a coach. He has had two spells at the club and since his return around six years ago he has concentrated on developing the new young sprinters coming to the club.

Hurdles

Clive Penglley is still an active athlete and is Nationally ranked in the ‘Masters’ hurdles events.

He coaches a mixed group of athletes in sprints and hurdles and his quick wit keeps everyone on their toes.

Disability coach specialising in wheelchair disability.

Graham Brett is an ex-athlete and has been involved with the club for many years. He is a sprints and hurdles coach and in recent years has developed a wheelchair group and is at the forefront of wheelchair athletics in Cornwall

GRAHAM HODGSON

Middle Distance

As well as being the club's chairman, he helps to coach a number of middle distance and long distance groups.

PETER BRERETON

High Jump Coach

Father of top high jumper Sam Brereton. Will be getting more involved with coaching duties and will pass on his expertise to other up and coming youngsters.


BRYHER FREIGHT

Assistant Club Coach

Bryher is still an active athlete, she helps to assist Jeff with the younger sprinters as well as a wide range of younger athletes.

Assistant Club Coach

Lewis is an ex-athlete who focuses his coaching on the younger athletes.

STEVE RASON

Assistant Club Coach

Steve is currently an assistant coach but is on his way to becoming a qualified Pole Vault coach. He is also the father of talented pole vaulter Bo Rason.

STEVE CLEMO

Assistant Club Coach

Steve is currently an assistant coach working his way to becoming a qualified throws coach. He is still an active athlete and still helps the club in the Southern Athletics League matches. He has recently broken the Veteran Pole Vault club record.

The Club also has the assistance of coaches from other clubs and Ex-Senior Athletes. Amongst them are Mo Pearson.

MO PEARSON

Mo Pearson, is a long established coach in Cornwall and has coached up to National level in the throws. She visits Par track at least once a month and is happy to take on athletes in the discus and shot. (With prior arrangement)
